'Osimhen rejected Manchester United' - Turkish journalist reveals behind-the-scenes transfer drama
Published: January 16, 2025
Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, a renowned Turkish transfer reporter, has shared insight on the speculations linking Victor Osimhen to Manchester United, sharing what he witnessed during a transfer meeting.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has been in scintillating form since his arrival in Turkey last September, notching thirteen goals and six assists in seventeen appearances across all competitions.
His performances have reportedly drawn the attention of Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who is keen to bolster the club's attacking options for the next season.
However, Sabuncuoğlu revealed that despite the Red Devils' interest, Osimhen has turned down the opportunity to join the Premier League giants.
Speaking about the situation, he was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com: "If Galatasaray finds the money for Victor Osimhen, they will buy him. They are also trying to find the money.
"I don't think he will go on an interim transfer. Because there was a transfer meeting that I witnessed. Manchester United wanted him, he (Osimhen) rejected them."
Sabuncuoğlu's revelation will further intensify the speculations about Osimhen's future ahead of the summer window.
By the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, Osimhen is expected to return to Napoli and aim to avoid a repeat of last summer's uncertainties while seeking a lasting resolution for his future.
