Done deal: Nigeria international forward Nkor joins Deportivo de La Coruna
Published: January 22, 2025
Through a statement on the official website, Spanish Primera División Femenina side Deportivo La Coruña, also known as Dépor ABANCA, have announced the signing of Nigerian international Blessing Nkor.
The 21-year-old forward joins the Spanish club on a deal that will keep her at Estadio Abanca-Riazor until the end of the season.
Nkor, who has been capped by Nigeria at youth level, brings a pretty decent goal-scoring record to Deportivo La Coruña.
Last season, she impressed in Turkey's top flight with Gaziantep Asya Spor, finding the back of the net 12 times.
The Nigerian forward's career has been on an upward trajectory since she began playing professionally.
Nkor started out with Sunshine Queens in her homeland before moving to Tanzanian club Yanga Princesses in September 2022.
Her performances in Africa caught the attention of Turkish side Gaziantep AsyaSpor, who signed her for the 2023/24 season.
She made her debut for Nigeria's senior national team, the Super Falcons, in a match against France last November.
The forward has also represented Nigeria at U20 level in the qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup hosted by Costa Rica, but didn't make the squad for the tournament.
Deportivo La Coruña will be hoping that Nkor's goal-scoring ability and international experience will help the team achieve success in the second half of the season.
Currently sitting at 14th place in the Primera División Femenina, the Spanish club will be looking to climb up the league table and make a push for a better finish.
