Man Utd's Danish-Nigerian revolution: After signing Obi-Martin, another talented player set to join
Published: January 30, 2025
After winning the race to sign Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal, Premier League giants Manchester United are on the brink of pulling off another transfer coup with the imminent capture of another talented Danish-Nigerian player.
Last summer, Obi-Martin attracted concrete interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, but decided to join Manchester United after rejecting a scholarship deal offered by the Gunners.
Obi-Martin has picked up where he left off last season, having already tallied twelve goals in all competitions, while making debuts in the National League Cup and Premier League International Cup.
Another Danish-born player of Nigerian descent is set to join the talented centre-forward at the Red Devils, though he is being brought in for the first team.
According to Sky Sports UK, Manchester United's priority in the January transfer window is signing a left wingback and they are finalizing an agreed deal with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu is set to fly in for his medical on Thursday ahead of a potential unveiling, after a fee in the region of £30m was agreed.
The signing of Dorgu equips United boss Ruben Amorin with a player that is well versed in the sort of system that he plays and it also allows them to take their time with Luke Shaw's return from injury.
While Chido Obi-Martin remains eligible to play for Nigeria, the 20-year-old Dorgu is cap-tied to Denmark, having played his fourth competitive match for the Scandinavian team in a UEFA Nations League fixture against Spain in November 2024.
