Chelsea determined to beat Arsenal, Man Utd, Newcastle in race for Super Eagles striker
Published: March 07, 2025
Chelsea are reportedly making relentless efforts to secure the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface ahead of Premier League rivals in the summer transfer window, according to Caughtoffside.
Boniface, who has lost his starting position at Bayer Leverkusen, has been linked with a move to several English clubs, including Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
The Nigerian international has started just one of Leverkusen’s last six games across all competitions, raising questions about his future with the Bundesliga champions.
The 24-year-old was close to joining Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr in the January transfer window, but the club ultimately signed Jhon Durán from Aston Villa instead.
Chelsea have identified Boniface as a top transfer target for the summer, particularly due to the inconsistent form of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.
Both Chelsea forwards have struggled this season, managing a combined total of just 12 league goals.
In contrast, Boniface has netted 10 goals across all competitions despite limited game time in recent weeks.
With only a few months until the transfer window opens, the future of fellow Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen remains another key talking point, as he looks for a fresh start to continue showcasing his talent in European football.
