Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United's Osimhen or Gyokeres pursuit hinges on budget
Published: March 08, 2025
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, has provided insight into the conditions necessary for Manchester United to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyökeres.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli in the summer, has been linked to several top European clubs, including Manchester United - due to his performance in Istanbul.
The Nigerian International has scored twenty-two goals and provided five assists in 28 matches across all competitions. His impressive display and contract situation make him an option for clubs searching for a striker in the summer.
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed Manchester United's financial situation and ability to qualify for European football would determine the sort of players they would approach in the summer.
"But for Manchester United. I say that for Osimhen and Gyokores. It depends on the budget. How much they can invest, and spend, and what happens with European football.
"So that's really important to know what's happening with Manchester United in terms of summer spending, and Amorim has been very clear - sell players to bring in new players."
With a few months to the end of the summer window, the future of Osimhen would be one of the biggest talking points in European football.
Osimhen has been invited for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The 26-year-old would hope to continue his impressive form and ensure Nigeria is victorious in both matches.
