Okoronkwo registers first goals, adds assist to power Hatayspor past Adana Demirspor
Published: May 17, 2025
Nigerian striker Jonathan Okoronkwo scored his maiden goals for Hatayspor as they secured an emphatic 5-0 victory over Adana Demirspor in a Turkish Super Lig encounter at Yeni Adana Stadyumu on Saturday evening.
Okoronkwo scored a brace in the first half of the match as the visitors headed into the halftime break with a convincing 3-0 lead to the dismay of the home fans.
The 21-year-old first found the back of the net in the 26th minute, sixteen minutes after Bilal Boutobba had given the visitors the lead early in the game.
The young attacker scored the brace in the 38th minute after missing a penalty to ensure Hatayspor headed into the break with a comfortable margin.
The visitors continued their dominance in the second half while Okoronkwo, despite not finding the back of the net, played an integral role in the second-half performance.
The former Arsenal Tula striker combined with Bilal Boutobba for the fifth goal after Joelson Fernandes had scored the fourth goal in the 56th minute.
Five minutes later, Okoronkwo turned provider, setting up Bilal Boutobba to fire past Deniz Dönmezer.
The strike firmly put the visitors in control of the game.
With Hatayspor in control of the contest, Okoronkwo was replaced with 26 minutes to the end of the contest, being replaced by 18-year-old Deniz Aksoy.
Okoronkwo will be satisfied with his performance and will hope to continue to showcase himself in Turkey for a possible transfer ahead of the upcoming summer window.
