'Osimhen will go to Chelsea' - Former referee makes bold prediction about Napoli loanee
Published: May 26, 2025
Former Turkish referee Ahmet Çakar has weighed in on the future of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, predicting that the prolific striker would join Chelsea ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Osimhen, who made headlines with a stunning loan spell at Galatasaray from Napoli, was a standout performer in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The 26-year-old netted 25 goals and provided five assists in just 29 league appearances, leading the Yellow-Reds to a championship-winning campaign and attracting the attention of Europe's elite clubs.
Among the clubs reportedly pursuing the Nigerian star are Chelsea and Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal.
Despite lucrative offers from the Middle East, Çakar believes Stamford Bridge is the likeliest destination.
Beyaz TV commentator Ahmet Çakar, emphasized that joining the Premier League would mark a significant milestone in Osimhen's career.
"I say Osimhen will go to Chelsea. He is right. Playing in the Premier League at the age of 26 is an important career," Çakar was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com.
"If he plays for Chelsea, he will go to Arabia for the same amount after his 30s anyway."
Osimhen's potential move to England comes at a pivotal moment in his career, as he looks to build on his reputation as one of Europe's top strikers.
While his club form has soared, Osimhen was a surprise omission from Nigeria's 39-man squad for the March Unity Cup clash against their arch-rivals.
He is also set to miss the June international friendly against Russia, citing the need for rest and recovery after a demanding season.
With the summer transfer window approaching, the striker is expected to weigh his options carefully, but Çakar's comments have only added fuel to growing rumours of a Premier League move.
