Golden Eaglets midfielder once on Barcelona's radar training with IFK Goteborg this summer
Published: June 12, 2025
Swedish Allvsenskan side IFK Göteborg have confirmed via their official website that Golden Eaglets midfielder Ifeoluwa Adewale Olowoporoku will train with the club this summer.
Olowoporoku has reportedly agreed a deal with the 18-time Swedish champions but the move cannot be completed until he turns 18 in July 2026.
An attacking midfielder and member of the Golden Eaglets squad at the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria, he was once on Barcelona's radar, but the Spanish giants have since cooled their interest in the promising teenager.
Barcelona had hoped to monitor him closely during the U17 Afcon, but he saw limited action, playing just one minute off the bench in a group stage match against South Africa.
The Tripple 44 Football Academy starlet trained with IFK Göteborg during the training camp in Portugal in February, and will resume training with the club this month.
Ahead of a potential move next summer, the Nigerian is set to return to Sweden to familiarize himself with the IFK Göteborg squad.
IFK Goteborg finished 13th in the Allsvenskan last season and currently sit sixth in this year's standings, with 19 points from 12 matches.
