After signing new West Ham deal, brother of Man Utd striker Obi gets Denmark U17 call-up

Denmark U17 national team coach Morten Corlin has announced his squad for the Scandinavian friendlies, with two talented teenagers of Nigerian descent among the twenty players called up, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Fresh from signing a new deal with Premier League club West Ham United, Chukwuemeka Obi has been named in the squad.

The 16-year-old is the younger brother of Manchester United striker Chido Obi, who is provisionally cap-tied to Denmark.

Chukwuemeka has risen through the ranks of West Ham United’s academy to earn a scholarship deal with the club.

He began his youth career in England at Arsenal before making the switch to West Ham United at U15 level.

The Danish-Nigerian forward made his competitive debut in the U18 Premier League during his final season as a schoolboy, featuring as a late substitute in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in January, where he played the final 12 minutes.

A powerful striker, Chukwuemeka has earned a maiden call-up to Denmark's U17 national team after a standout season with West Ham's U16s, where he netted 17 goals to underline his attacking prowess.

Ekene Chukwuani is the second Nigerian forward called up for the friendlies against Norway, Finland and Sweden, which will be played from June 30 to August 6.

The Brondby starlet is the younger brother of Tochi Chukwuani, who has represented Denmark at U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 level and was involved in the four matches played by Denmark at last month's European U21 Championship.
