New Wolves signing Arokodare inherits shirt number worn by former Nigeria U23 striker
Published: September 02, 2025
Following his summer move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has taken over the shirt number previously worn by former Nigeria U23 international Bright Enobakhare.
Arokodare sealed a deadline-day move to the Premier League outfit after an impressive campaign with Belgian side KRC Genk, where he netted 23 goals and registered seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
Wolves confirmed the striker’s squad number in a post on their official X handle, disclosing that the 24-year-old will don the No. 14 jersey once occupied by Enobakhare.
The Nigerian forward could make his debut when Wolves host Newcastle United after the international break.
Enobakhare, who represented Wolves between 2014 and 2020, scored three goals and contributed one assist in 49 appearances before leaving the club.
The center forward also featured twice for Nigeria’s U23 national team.
1999 Super Eagles invitee George Ndah represented Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early 2000s, wearing the number 14 shirt during the 2000–2001 and 2001–2002 campaigns.
For Arokodare, attention first shifts to international duty, as he has been named in the Super Eagles squad for the crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures against South Africa and Rwanda.
Nigeria sits fourth in Group C with seven points, six adrift of leaders South Africa, and must secure maximum points in both matches to keep alive their hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
