STEPHEN MAKINWA Could Play In China
Published: July 02, 2012
One time FC Ebedei wonder-kid Stephen Makinwa is the latest Nigerian player linked with a move to the lucrative Chinese League.
Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni only last week flew to China to sign a three-year contract with Guangzhou R&F. Rubin Kazan forward Obafemi Martins is also on the wishlist of Tianjin Teda FC and Qingdao Chzhunnen.
Makinwa, who spent six years with Lazio, is now a free agent after his contract expired at the end of last season.
Speaking on Sky Sport Italia, Makinwa said: ''My contract with Lazio is expired. I am now free. I am talking with a team. I received offers from China and I have little time to decide. We will see."
Meanwhile, Eddy Onazi, who made his debut last season for the Biancocelesti, could play a prominent role in midfield in the coming campaign if he proves his mettle in pre-season training.
Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovi admires the qualities of the former Under 17 vice-champion, and is willing to give him a chance.
