Women League Super Six Hots Up In Abuja

The Super Six League that would produce a winner for Nigeria Women League commenced over the weekend in Abuja on a high note where the three top teams from group A and B in the abridge league, namely: Delta Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Sunshine Queens, Nasarawa Amazon and Kogi Confluence are competing for honors.
Delta Queens secured a 2-1 victory against Bayelsa Queens in the opening match while the defending champions, Rivers Angel got an all important 1-0 victory against the hard-fighting Ondo side, Sunshine Queens in the second match of the day.
Rivers Angels became the first team to qualify for the finals after beating Nasarawa Amazon on Sunday in their second match watched by an appreciable crowd in Federal Capital Territory football pitch Area 3.
The Chairman Nigeria Women Football League Chief (Mrs.) Dili Onyedinma and other dignitaries that witnessed the opening matches commended the high standard displayed by the teams.
“The standard displayed here by these teams is an indication that our league is still capable of producing good players for our various national teams” said the Women League Boss.
