Ex Arsenal Starlet, EMMANUEL ADEWOLE Close To Signing Hammerfest FK Contract
Published: December 10, 2012
One time Arsenal Academy player and Anglo - Nigerian forward Emmanuel Adewole says he is on the verge of signing a one - year contract with Norwegian third division club Hammerfest FK.
'' I had trials with Hammerfest FK over the summer as an unknown player from America and they liked me.Will likely be joining the club in January. Right now we are just trying to tie up a deal as far as moving there and agree personal terms. It will be a one – year deal with extension after the contract expires,'' Adewole told allnigeriasoccer.com.
On the back of a successful trial with HFK, clubs in Sweden and Malta also approached the youngster for his services, but both deals fell apart because of sundry reasons.
''In July I tried out with Bodens BK in Sweden for like a week. Wages and living accommodation was the prime reason it fell apart. I was also in Malta to trial with Mqabba FC and Zebbug Rangers and the transfer window closed while I was trying to get Sliema to bring me on trials, courtesy of agent Henry Ekezie. That was late August I tested with Mqabba, right before transfer deadline day. They wanted me but as per the rules for their division, they could only have three foreign players and apparently the Chairman had signed another player from a higher division , so it was impossible to take me on board,'' adds Adewole.
Away from football, Adewole, a student of Drake University in the United States, will complete his college degree on Saturday. He triple majored in Politics, International Affairs and International Finance.
''Mum made sure I got her the degree before football takes over my life in case of anything,'' Adewole, who was born in the United Kingdom, said.
