Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem are on the brink of announcing the signing of talented Nigerian winger Musa Maliq Omotayo following a successful medical.
Transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri broke the news on Tuesday afternoon, reporting that Zulte Waregem have completed the signing of the Ikorodu City starlet.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has independently confirmed that Omotayo's transfer to the West Flanders club is indeed done and dusted, with only an official announcement of the deal pending.
Omotayo is now eligible to sign a professional contract with a European club after attaining the age of majority on Monday, August 17.
Zulte Waregem scouts had been monitoring the progress of the 18-year-old before inviting him to Belgium for further assessment.
He has now been offered a contract after impressing Zulte Waregem's coaching staff during his trial period.
Zulte Waregem have pulled off a major transfer coup by securing Omotayo's signature, beating several European clubs, including Barcelona, to his services.
The La Liga giants were too slow to complete a deal, having planned to assess him during trials scheduled for this summer.
In his final season at Ikorodu City, Omotayo made 11 appearances in the Nigeria Premier Football League, scoring against Niger Tornadoes and providing the match-winning assist in a 1-0 victory over Bendel Insurance.
