Super Eagles forward Rafiu Durosinmi has reacted to Genk’s dramatic 4-4 draw against Antwerp after watching his side surrender a three-goal advantage.
Durosinmi has made an impressive start to life in Belgium since joining Genk, scoring in each of his first three league appearances.
His latest goal came against Antwerp, where he put Genk ahead 2-1 shortly after half-time. The Nigerian forward now has three goals in three Belgian Pro League matches this season.
Genk had earlier extended their lead to 4-1, putting themselves in a commanding position to secure all three points.
However, Antwerp mounted a remarkable late comeback, scoring three times in the closing stages to salvage a 4-4 draw.
Durosinmi, who was substituted before Antwerp completed their comeback, admitted that he was stunned by what unfolded from the bench.
“From 1-3, I was on the bench. I didn’t know what I was seeing. Everyone was already convinced that the three points were in the bag. Their supporters kept pushing them. The penalty helped them too," Durosinmi told Het Belang van Limburg, via Voetbal24.
Despite the disappointment of dropping two points, the Genk record signing believes his team can take positives from their performance after the interval.
“We have to take encouragement from the first half-hour after the break. There were a lot of very good things in that period. We have to keep our heads up in the coming days. We need to show that we are one team," he concluded.
