Enyeama Not Returning To Maccabi Tel Aviv; Rejects 345 Million Naira Wages
Published: July 09, 2013
According to the online edition of Israel's most influential newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, Nigeria international goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has rejected the offer to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv next season.
Ynet.co.il says though Enyeama was offered a salary of 1.65 million euros (net) for the next three years, the Nigerian decided to stay in Lille- so it seems from conversations held with the club supremo.
It is assumed that Enyeama is going to fight for a first team shirt at Lille, but not impossible that he just does not want to lose the big money he currently earns at the French club.
Despite the big contract offered by Maccabi Tel Aviv, it is still less than the 900,000 euros he will earn in his final year with Lille.
One of the candidates tipped to replace Vincent Enyeama is Real Madrid B Team goalkeeper Tomás Mejías Osorio.
Maccabi Tel Aviv will meet Hungarians Gyr in the UEFA Champions League next week.
The club had planned to sign a new goalkeeper before that game, but it seems likely Barak Levy will start in goal.
