Match - Fixing Update: Babayaro Unconnected To Bubayaro FC
Published: July 11, 2013
Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and chairman of Kaduna United, Hon. Sabo Babayaro has cleared the air on some media reports linking him with Bubayaro FC.
The team is currently embroiled in a match fixing scandal after losing 67-0 to Police Machine in a Nigerian Nationwide league play-off.
Babayaro stated: " I will like to dissociate myself and name from Bubayaro FC as the team is based in Gombe while I am based in Kaduna.
'' I never knew of the existence untill this scandal and the team name is Bubayaro FC not Babayaro FC as reported by some media outlets.''
Babayaro refused to be drawn on the issue insisting that the body set up to investigate the scandal is in best position to do that.
Instead, he commented on the league in his capacity as vice chairman of the NPFL.
''It's a case of so far,so good, 12 away wins and we are just in week 21.
''I think that is a praise for the management of the league and football stakeholders in the country should be proud that the league is
regaining some of it's lost glory.
''Insha Allah, it will get better and better,'' he said.
