Mutiu Adepoju Delighted With Shola Ameobi's Recall
Published: July 27, 2013
Retired Nigeria international Mutiu Adepoju has revealed his delight at the recall of experienced Newcastle forward Shola Ameobi for the upcoming friendly between Nigeria and South Africa in Durban on August 14.
Recall that Shola Ameobi, 31, was named in Nigeria's preliminary African Cup of Nations roster but could not attend the tournament due to a clause in his contract.
Adepoju was quoted as saying by the electronic edition of The Punch : '' “When Ameobi played for the country, he did very well.
''I think Keshi wants to see him again. I believe the coach has done the right thing by inviting him.
''We need our best players for every match, and Ameobi is one of our best players.''
Although Shola Ameobi has represented England's Under 21 team, he has pledged his international future to Nigeria and made his debut for the African champions against Venezuela in November 2012.
