EXCLUSIVE: Warri Wolves Want 350,000 Euros For Azubuike Egwuekwe , Reject Bid From Red Star Belgrade
Published: July 27, 2013
The tall central defender was one of the priorities of manager Slaviša Stojanović in the summer transfer market, but a bid thought to be in the region of 0.2 million euros from the 1991 European champions was rejected by the Warri Wolves brass.
For the sake of just 150,000 euros, the Warri Wolves skipper will continue to play in the local league.
Respected Serbian journalist Dejan Stankovic described Azubuike's situation as follows : '' Red Star's interest somehow faded since Warri Wolves were looking for 350, 000 euros and 35 percent sell on clause inserted into the contract.
''Now they have signed a new center back so the deal is off although Egwuekwe was their first pick.''
This summer, Red Star signed defenders Novak Martinoviä† from Steaua Bucharest and Liberia international Robert Omega, who last played for FK Smederevo.
