Published: July 31, 2013
Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo was on Monday granted a work permit by the British Home Office.
The 19 - year - old will depart Abuja to start training with Chelsea on Wednesday night or latest Thursday.
'' Kenneth called me on Monday to inform me that he has been granted a work permit by the authorities.
'' He had been waiting to get the green-light from the British embassy before leaving to start training with Chelsea.
'' So probably, he is leaving Nigeria this evening or tomorrow, '' a source close to the defender told allnigeriasoccer.com.
At this point, it is unclear if Jose Mourinho has guaranteed the former ADO Den Haag center back a first team shirt.
If that is not the case, the highly rated teenager will be loaned to one of the mid table Premiership teams.
