OYO YSFON To Commence ALGON Cup After Ramadan
Published: August 08, 2013In a bid to get the best out of youngsters and consideration of Islamic faithful, the ALGON Unity Cup organized by Oyo State Chapter of Youth Sports Federations of Nigeria (YSFON) has been rescheduled to commence by 15th August, a week after the completion of Ramadan across the four zones of the state.
YSFON’s state chairman, Rafiu Alabi who addressed the sporting press in Ibadan said the decision was unanimously agreed by all parties concerned which comprise mostly caretaker chairmen of all the 33 local government area of the state and coaches of the participating teams.
Oyo YSFON boss also noted that the state has been classified to four centers in the bid to take the tourney across every nook and cranny of the state, with each center accommodating 8 teams.
Ibadan and its environs according to Sikiru Ewenla the LOC chairman would played in center located inside Lead City University, as ASADEP Stadium Saki and Kisi Stadium would cater for teams from Oke-Ogun parts of the state while Eruwa Township Stadium will serve teams from the end.
Chairman of other Caretaker Chairmen in the state that bankrolled the soccer tourney, Yekeen Popoola said their aim in sponsoring the Under-17 soccer competition are to help promote healthy living among youths in the state by re-orientating and redirecting their goals and visions for sustainable self development, and to contribute to the pool of qualitative and professional football players in the country
