Published: August 27, 2013
Libyan Premier League club Asswehly S.C.have completed the signing of Nigeria international Chibuzor Okonkwo on a season - long loan deal from Enugu Rangers.
However, the economic rights of the 24 - year - old right back belong to grassroots team Oak Zeel FC of Nsukka, who signed him on a four - year contract before the start of this season.
Oak Zeel's bank account will be credited with the sum of US $50,000, being the rental fee to be remitted by Asswehly S.C.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Mr. Valentine Okechukwu Omeje, the proprietor of OAk Zeel FC revealed his delight at the deal, stressing that it was one that would benefit Chibuzor Okonkwo.
'' We are happy with the contract, it's a step further in his career.
'' Chibuzor was unsettled in Nigeria and for him to concentrate it was decided that he should leave the country to play overseas.
'' Libya is not a bad place for a start. If Chibuzor plays well, he can attract the bigger clubs in North Africa - Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria.
'' But he is likely to move to Europe at the end of his loan spell,'' Omeje said.
It should be noted that Oak Zeel inserted a clause in Chibuzor Okonkwo's loan agreement with Enugu Rangers, statingâ that they can sell him any time an offer from abroad comes for the Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist.
