Published: September 24, 2013
El Shorta have turned down two undisclosed bids from Zamalek and Al Qanah for highly rated Nigerian attacking midfielder Maroof Yusuf, who is regarded as one of the top youngsters playing in the Egyptian Premier League.
The 20 - year - old was one of the shining lights of El Shorta’s successful campaign last season , and it is for that reason that clubs have made enquiries on his availability.
But the most concrete interest came from Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek and Premier League newcomers Al Qanah.
“I am remaining with Police Union. Zamalek came for me but my club refused due to the money that was offered.
“I don’t really know how much Zamalek offered but my club wanted one million dollars.
“Apart from Zamalek, a team that just came to the first division also approached Police Union for my services,” Maroof Yusuf said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Maroof Yusuf has contractual obligations with El Shorta until the end of the 2015 season.
