Dutch Football Expert Rubbishes Report Uche Nwofor Faces Pay Cut
Published: October 04, 2013
Reports suggesting that Nigeria international Uche Nwofor could face a huge pay cut if he remains in Holland next season are incorrect, a Dutch Football transfer market expert has told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The 22 - year - old attacker is under contract with VVV Venlo until the summer of 2015, but will spend this season on loan at top division SC Heerenveen.
“Players of 21 years and older are entitled to 550,000 euros per season and if they are younger 275,000 euros.
“It is only after five years in the league a foreigner can be classified as a Dutch player.
“And after five years, a foreign player will not accept a salary less than 550,000 euros,” the journalist who does not want his name disclosed told allnigeriasoccer.com.
It should be noted that to acquire Dutch citizenship and be termed a local, the player must live in Holland continuously for five years, unless you are married to a Dutch woman for at least three years.
For now, ex Enugu Ranger Uche Nwofor did not fall in any of these categories.
Therefore, he remains an expatriate footballer until 2016 and by that time his Venlo contract would have expired except it was renewed.
