Published: October 06, 2013
FC Midtjylland attacker Sylvester Igbonu has dropped a strong hint that he will play for the Denmark National Team instead of the Super Eagles.
The 23 - year - old is enjoying a purple patch in the Superliga, with 5 goals in his last 7 matches for the Jutland based club and there is talk that he could be handed a call-up by manager Morten Olsen once he gets his Danish passport in January 2014.
“Nigeria National Team coaches are not showing interest by providing the opportunity.
“The big news now in Denmark is that they want me to play for Denmark.
“Immediately I get my Danish passport in January, I’ll honor the invitation of the coach if I am invited,” says Igbonu to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Sylvester Igbonu recently penned an additional two - year contract with FC Midtjylland.
