Published: November 12, 2013
Kelechi Iheanacho’s performance at the just concluded Fifa Under 17 World Cup, where he won the Golden Ball, has not gone unnoticed by some of the elite clubs in Europe.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that two - time champions of the Greece Super League PAOK are plotting an ambitious move for the 17 - year - old attacking midfielder in the January transfer window.
This is not paper - talk. The hierarchy of the Black and Whites has instructed a player’s manager Christos Savvidis to secure the signature of the Taye Academy precocious talent.
And in the coming days, Christos Savvidis, who is well connected at PAOK, plans to start negotiations with the bonafide agent of Kelechi Iheanacho, Henry Galeano of First Eleven Management of the United States.
Should the transfer materialize, it won’t be the first time Savvidis has brokered a deal to take a top Nigerian prospect to Greece.
Savvidis and his Nigerian partner Emmanuel Okocha facilitated the trials of Flying Eagles star Michael Olaitan at Veria two years back.
Allnigeriasoccer.com’s transfer market expert values Kelechi Iheanacho at 700,000 euros and it is believed that he can leave his local club for lower that sum if the buying club stipulates that around 400,000 euros of the transfer fee should be based on performance-related add ons.
To lure the teenager to Thessaloniki, PAOK face competition from teams in England including Arsenal, Germany and Spain.
