Fenerbahce Striker Emmanuel Emenike Excited About World Cup
Published: November 13, 2013
Emmanuel Emenike, who emerged top scorer at the 2013 African Cup of Nations, is fully focused ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Ethiopia and is dreaming of heading to the World Cup final in Brazil with the Nigeria selection.
Speaking to fifa.com, the Fenerbahce marksman said : “I am glad to have played in the Nations Cup and won, but I am dreaming of playing in my first World Cup for Nigeria.
“That will be the first time I will be at the World Cup and to get to play in Brazil, where they are crazy about football, would be a dream come true.”
Even though the Super Eagles are nailed on favorites to qualify for their fifth mundial, Emenike has admitted that the showdown with the Antelopes in Calabar will not be a stroll in the park.
He told the official website of Fifa: “The game in Calabar will be tougher for us than the one in Addis Ababa. We have to be careful and get ready for another big business in Calabar.
“Ethiopia are very good and they will be coming here with more tricks. So, we shouldn't see the first victory as the end of road.”
The 26 - year - old attacker was recommended to former Eagles gaffer Samson Siasia by substantive skipper of the National Team, Joseph Yobo.
