Lars Lagerback Extends Contract With Iceland
Published: November 25, 2013
Former Nigeria gaffer Lars Lagerback has extended his contract with the National Team of Iceland for an additional two years.
The Swede took over the reins of the tiny European nation in October 2011, and led them to the World Cup play - offs where they lost 2 - 0 to Croatia.
The new deal will see Lagerback take charge of Iceland for the Euro 2016 qualifiers while his assistant Heimir Hallgrímsson will succeed him for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
“I expect to quit after this contract but would like to finish by making it to the EURO finals, even though we are in a difficult group since we will most likely be in the fifth pot of seeds,” Lagerback said to the official website of UEFA.
