EXCLUSIVE: Onyekachi Apam Intends To See Out Rennes Contract
Published: November 28, 2013
Despite reports linking him with an exit from Rennes in the January transfer window, Onyekachi Apam intends to see out the last seven months of his contract with the Ligue 1 side.
The Nigeria international was a big hit for fellow Ligue 1 campaigners OGC Nice, which made Rennes come for his signature in the summer of 2010.
However, since his arrival at the Route de Lorient, injuries have curtailed Onyekachi Apam’s progress.
“For me it is clear. Onye has physical problems to play with regularly.
“Head Coach Philippe Montanier will not bet on him. He is not sure to play without being hurt.
“So he has a very good contract and wait until next summer and depart as a free agent.
“Agent said he wants to leave in January? Words and reality are different.
“Apam earns 70,000 euros a month and not sure he can get that elsewhere given his recent physical condition, so he is smart,” a Rennes insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.
In about three and a half seasons with Rennes, Onyekachi Apam has managed only 23 appearances in the French top flight.
