Cologne defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 3 - 2 on Sunday to cement their position at the top of the 2 Bundesliga standings.
Nigeria international Anthony Ujah netted a brace for the Billy Goats either side of the break to take his tally this season to 7 goals in 17 matches.
The 23 - year - old attacker was delighted Cologne claimed the bragging rights in the derby.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Tony Ujah said : “It was an intensive game and we took our early chances to go two goals up in the first half.
“We came into the second half and took our foot off the gas and we were punished with two goals against but we never gave up until we got the winner.
“I am glad and Thank God for the way the year has ended. This is not just a game for Cologne its the biggest derby and I know what it means to score two goals.”
