Yaya Toure Beats Mikel To Clinch African Footballer Of The Year Award

At a gala ceremony in Lagos, Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure has been crowned as the best player in Africa for 2013.
The Manchester City midfielder collected 373 votes of the National Team coaches in Africa followed by Nigerian Mikel Obi (265) and Didier Drogba (236) in that order.
This is the third successive year Yaya Toure has scooped the award, having previously triumphed in 2011 and 2012.
He joins Samuel Etoo as the only player to have won the prestigious CAF Award on three occasions.
Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Aboutrika beat Sunday Mba to the Player of the Year (based in Africa).
In other categories, Stephen Keshi was chosen as coach of the year while Kelechi Iheanacho won the most promising talent award.
The National Team and Youth National Team of the Year award was picked by the Super Eagles and Golden Eaglets respectively.
Three Nigerian players - Vincent Enyeama, Mikel Obi and Emmanuel Emenike - were selected in a ceremonial Team of the Year.
