NSC Zone 1 Releases 2014 Programme Of Activities

The National Sports Commission Southwest Zone 1, which has its headquarters located at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan has released its 2014 Programme of activities for the zone which comprises of Oyo, Ogun and Lagos state.
Despite the tight schedule of NSC in 2014, owing to events like the Commonwealth Games, Senior World Cup, Youth Olympic Games and National Sports Festival, the Zonal Coordinator of the zone, Dr. Steve Olarinoye is still optimistic that the Zonal programmes of activities will continue as scheduled.
The highlight of the events includes the launching of Pace Setter Fitness Club, which is in line with the new policy of National Health and Fitness promotion.
Members of the fitness club according to Olarinoye includes Her Excellency, wife of the Executive Governor, Oyo State Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi; Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly Hon. Monsurat Sumonu; Chief Judge, Oyo State, Justice Badejoko Adeniji; wife of former Governor, Ekiti State, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose; businessmen, top serving and retired civil servants and host of other interested personalities.
The zonal coordinator also added that other programmes like seminars for referees, U-15 All Secondary School Athletics Championship, Squash Championship, and Private Secondary Schools Basketball Championship will also be held as scheduled.
He however enjoined the states to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the zone and charged them to also develop
their programme of activities for 2014 so that the two programmes could be harmonized for effective Grassroots Sports Development.
