Bewarang Cautions On 2014 League Season
Published: January 19, 2014
The National President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Bitrus Bewarang has cautioned all the four league bodies in the country to adhere strictly to the rules governing their various leagues, and ensure transparency in administering the 2013/2014 League season.
Coach Bewarang who is also the General Manager of Plateau United said the rancor that evolved the Nigeria National League last season could have been avoided if things were done in the right perspectives.
Quoting his words, the former Super Eagles Coach said “let me first and foremost welcome all football stakeholders to the year 2014.
“It is my prayer that the year would be very rewarding for Nigeria football, especially our league.
“I would want to commend the organizers of leagues for their efforts so far, but would want to implore them to be more transparent in their approach in the new season.
“They should adhere strictly to the rules governing the leagues, and ensure that they avoid anything that would bring all their efforts to nullity.
“They should ensure that genuine winners emerge at the end of the season, it is only through this, that, football development in country would be faster”.
The former Nasarawa United Technical Adviser also sent a word of caution to the referees advising them to maintain a high level of integrityin all the matches, saying that that would be the best way to bring the best out of the players “our referees should maintain a high level of integrity in the new football season.
“It is absurd that none of our referees is included in the forthcoming FIFA World cup in Brazil.
“In this new season, our referees should be able to show the World that their judgment is very wrong.
“They should live above board in all the matches, and allow the best teams to win all the matches.
“I will also implore the clubs to ensure that adequate security is provided for the referees at match venues, and they should be allowed to do their jobs without any intimidation” he said.
He promised that in the year, that his Association would organize the CAF license courses for Nigeria Coaches to enable them meet up with those from other African country “we are very much behind in this aspect. We commend the NFF for their efforts so far in ensuring that our Coaches are graded in the last two years.
“But in this year, we would take it upon ourselves to organize these courses for our Coaches, so that many of them would be graded before the end of the year.
“This is to enable us meet the CAF deadline” he concluded.
