Emmanuel Emenike : I Was Not Miserable In Moscow
Published: January 24, 2014
Fenerbahce marksman Emmanuel Emenike has rubbished reports quoting him to have said that he was unhappy in Russia.
In the interview, the Nigeria international complained that he stayed in a glass cage, had problems communicating and was living in solitude.
“I would like to say at once that all reports in Turkish newspapers to the effect that I was miserable in Moscow - not true.
“I never said that. Moreover, I had grown to love Russia and its capital city and its people.
“Playing in Spartak Moscow I became a footballer, which is spoken not only in Turkey or Russia, but throughout Europe.
“Thank god for what I turned out to be in this club,”says Emmanuel Emenike to Sportbox.ru.
But the African Cup of Nations top scorer has admitted that it took him a long time adapting to the hustle and bustle of the Russian capital.
Emeneke told the Russian website: “What surprised me the most in Moscow? At first I could not get used to the frantic pace, but then resigned to it.
“Like all the people who come for the first time in the capital of Russia, I was surprised by the traffic jams.”
Finally, the Super Eagle advised the Russian authorities to curb incidents of racism at their stadiums and the Premier League teams to sign more colored players.
