The Nigeria international was in a race against the clock to be available for the game at the Türk Telekom Arena.
Mikel , 26, trained with the Chelsea squad at Cobham on Monday before their departure to Istanbul.
Apart from the away clash with Steaua Bucharest where he was an unused substitute, the central midfielder has been involved in all the games played by Chelsea in the Champions League this term.
