Emmanuel Emenike Nets Ninth Super Lig Goal
Published: March 16, 2014
The Istanbul powerhouse registered a 2 - 1 win over their opponents to move five points clear, ahead of city rivals Galatasaray who have played a game more.
On Sunday evening, Dirk Kuyt opened scoring for the Yellow Canaries in the first half only for Edinho to restore parity for Kayseri Erciyesspor in the 63rd minute.
Within a minute of that strike from the penalty spot by Edinho, Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike kept the one - goal lead intact after an assist by midfielder Caner Erkin.
And moments later, the Super Eagles star came within inches of getting his second of the game but for some brilliant goalkeeping by Gokhan Degirmenci.
Not considering the goal in the abandoned game against Trabzonspor , Emmanuel Emenike has 9 goals in 20 matches.
In the next round of fixtures, Fenerbahçe will lock horns with tenth on the table Gaziantepspor.
