Elderson Echiejile Tastes Ligue 1 Action After Five Years AbsenceElderson Echiejile finally made his long awaited debut for Ligue 1 moneybags Monaco as the principality outfit drew 1 - 1 with Lille in the star match in France last weekend.

Before now, the Nigeria full back has suited up 2 times for Monaco in the French Cup and played another match in the Championnat de France, equivalent of fourth - tier.

However, manager Claudio Ranieri handed him his first start for the past five years in Ligue 1 against Lille.

His last appearance in the championship came against Marseille in May 2009 while defending the colors of Rennes.

Mounir Obbadi scored the opening goal of the encounter in the 4th minute and shortly before the end of the first half, Divock Origi leveled the scoreline.

Super Eagles numero uno Vincent Enyeama was in goal for Lille, his 30th appearance in the topflight this term.

With eight rounds left to play, Monaco occupy the second position in the standings, 10 points behind pacesetters PSG.
