Chigozie Udoji Reveals CSKA Sofia Blocked Transfer To Blackburn Rovers
Published: April 11, 2014
Nigerian midfielder Chigozie Udoji has sensationally revealed that the higher - ups at CSKA Sofia blocked his move to Blackburn Rovers , who were then campaigning for honours in the English Premier League.
In the interview granted Belarusian magazine, Offside, from afar the Dinamo Minsk ace is pointing fingers that a lot of crime exists in Bulgaria after thieves made away with his BMW X6.
“When I played for CSKA, I bought a BMW X6. Lived in a neighborhood where six people had such a car. There were all stolen. Broke into my garage and swapped the X6 for X5.”
The former Bulgaria youth - teamer went on: “With the youth team of Bulgaria, I played a friendly game with Greece in 2007. I played well and scored two goals.
“There were scouts from England. They liked me and I was invited to Blackburn. They were pleased with me and were willing to offer me a contract.”
But the proposed move to England collapsed after CSKA Sofia coerced him to sign an additional four - year contract.
“CSKA threw a spanner in the works. I was told that if I do not sign a contract for 4 years with them, I will stay without citizenship.
“Later with the help of lawyers, I was issued a Bulgarian passport. It turned out that when CSKA Sofia blackmailed me, my documents have already been done. ... Mafia,” Udoji concluded.
The 27 - year - old has failed to make his official debut for Dinamo Minsk after two rounds of games in the topflight.
