Azerbaijan Reject Proposal From NFF to Play Friendly
Published: April 15, 2014
Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan have rejected a proposal by the Nigeria Football Federation for both teams to play an exhibition match before the start of the World Cup in June.
Azerisport.com says the Nigeria Federation wanted the friendly to be held on June 2 in the United States, but this was not accepted by Berti Vogts.
Coincidentally, the Super Eagles are scheduled to square off against Greece on the same date that was proposed by the Nigeria Federation.
Logically it could mean that the tune up game against the 2004 European champions is now in jeopardy and the NFF is on the lookout for a replacement or discussions took place before the friendly with Greece was sealed.
It is confirmed that Nigeria will play Scotland and United States before their World Cup opener against Iran on Monday, June 16.
