State Federation Cup: Oyo FA Seeks Date Extension Over CrownTight-Fixtures
Published: April 27, 2014
The management of Oyo State Football Association has expressed concern over the directive of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) that all state finals should be decided on or before May Sunday 4th.
The development according to Oyo FA acting Chairman, Chief James Odeniran would be tiresome for the premiership side in the state, Crown FC of Ogbomoso.
Crown FC is yet to play its quarter-final match against Pacesetter FC earlier slated for Tuesday 29th but owing to it’s mid-week Premier League fixtures, the match has now been rescheduled for Friday, 2nd May.
If Crown comes out victorious at that stage, it will play in the semi-final match scheduled for Saturday while final is also for
Sunday 4th May.
This has made the management of the Ogbomoso side to appeal to the Oyo State FA to seek for a week date extension from NFF on their behalf to enable the team give its best during the state FA Cup Tourney.
The Oyo FA boss Odeniran in a chat with newsmen during Crown FC and Nembe City match at Lekan Salami Sports Complex Ibadan said his association has written to the Glass house seeking their understanding over the plight of Crown FC.
Meanwhile 3SC who managed to escape a local Mocdim Oke-Ado FC after a rematch played on Friday at Lekan Salami following a stalemated 2-2 scoreline recorded in earlier quarter-final game played at Olubadan Stadium would now confront YK Abass in the semifinal on Friday 2nd at Lakan Salami Ibadan.
Winner of Oke-Ogun United would also tackle the winner of Crown and Pacesetter FC on Saturday 3rd at the same venue to know who would emerge as 2014 Oyo State FA Cup Champion after the final slated for Sunday 4th May according to fixtures signed by Oyo FA secretary Kehinde Ojelowo and made available to newsmen.
