Efe Ambrose Remembers Lato Tanko After Strike Against Inverness
Published: April 28, 2014
Glasgow Celtic utility man Efe Ambrose has dedicated his 78th minute strike in the 6 - 0 trashing of Inverness CT to Saleh Lato Tanko, who passed on April 20 after a brief illness.
The late Saleh Lato Tanko managed the Nigeria international for three years while he was at Kaduna United before his switch to MS Ashdod in Israel.
“The news of his death shocked me and my family. As soon as I scored, his thought flashed through my mind and my pointing skyward is a way of saying,Coach this is for you,” the 25 - year - old defender said.
And he has emotionally urged his ex teammates at Kaduna United to push up the table after an indifferent start to the season.
“I have spoken with few of the players in the team and have told them to give their late Coach a smile in his grave by ending the season in a better way than how they started,” Ambrose added.
Efe Ambrose, who is expected to grace his first World Cup this summer, has made 34 starts for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
