Birkirkara FC marksman Shola Shodiya is the only Nigerian player based in Malta that was selected in the ceremonial Team of the Season for the 2013 - 2014 campaign.<br /><br />The 22- year - old had his breakthrough season in the Island season, notching up 14 goals in 30 matches as Birkirkara finished as&nbsp; vice - champions, one point below Valletta, who garnered 51 points.<br /><br />At an award ceremony held at Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard on Monday, Shola Shodiya was selected to the lead the front-line alongside strike partner Jhonnattann Benitez and Edison Dos Santos of Hibernians.<br /><br />The award which is organized by the Malta Football Players Association is in its third edition.<br /><br />It is understood that Shodiya is negotiating a new contract with Birkirkara, who will represent Malta in the next edition of the Europa League.<br />
