Schalke 04 defeated Nurnberg 4 - 1 in the German Bundesliga on Saturday in their final game of the season.
In the first half, Joel Matip and Roman Neustädter gave the Royal Blues a two - goal advantage before Draxler increased the scoreline 15 minutes from the end.
Two quick fire goals from both teams completed the scoring. Drmic pulled one back for Nurnberg in the 91st minute but Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi restored the three - goal lead a minute later.
As a result of the victory, Schalke ended the season in third position and that means they will play in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Chinedu Obasi, whose name was missing form the Eagles provisional World Cup roster, netted 3 goals in 15 league appearances, his best tally for the past four years.
