Flying Eagles Silence Tanzania In Dar es Salaam
Published: May 11, 2014The Flying Eagles have one foot in the third round of the African Youth Championship qualifiers following their 2 - 0 away victory over Tanzania in the first leg second fixture which was decided on Sunday afternoon in Dar es Salaam.
Celta Vigo midfielder Musa Yahaya made up for his missed opportunity in the 24th minute when he opened scoring for Nigeria four minutes after the restart.
The 16 - year - old reacted quickest to a cross from the right , tapping in from close range to put the Flying Eagles noses in front.
Despite the efforts of Tanzania to level the tie, Kalmar bound Taiwo Awoniyi extinguished their hopes with a second for Nigeria in the 82nd minute.
Both teams will meet again in the next two weeks, with the overall winner of the contest facing either Angola or Lesotho in the third round of qualifiers.
