Golden Eaglets To Abide By Code Of Conduct
Published: May 21, 2014
The Golden Eaglets will have to abide by a new Code of Conduct which outlines clear guidelines on how the players will comport themselves while in camp along with how they should deal with each other and the technical crew.
Coach Emmanuel Amuneke issued the stern warning in a meeting between the backroom staff and the 30 players who scaled the intensive screening exercise.
“I want to remind you that this is a national team set up which is quite different from what you are used to in your various academies and home.
“We are all friends irrespective of where you are coming from but our appeal to you to be good conduct and do your very best,” Emmanuel Amuneke said.
“We don’t want you to have the impression that you have made it after the screening but to see your selection as a new challenge for you and work harder in the days ahead.
“You have been briefed about the need to be of good conduct and it’s in your best interest and that of the team to follow the rules unless you want us to send you home.”
This portal has been reliably informed that the players, even the ones that did not make the grade, are delighted with the way Emmanuel Amuneke handled the screening exercise.
All the youngsters were absorbed into the team without recommendations from power brokers or being forced to sign agency contracts contrary to the norm in the past.
