Falcons On Brink Of AWC Qualification After Thrashing Rwanda

At the Umuganda Stadium on Saturday, Nigeria beat hosts Rwanda 4 - 1 to take a healthy lead into the return leg of their African Women’s Championship qualifying fixture.
After several missed opportunities, Azizat Oshoala opened scoring in the 34th minute and added a second for the eight - time continental champions five minutes later.
In the second half, Esther Sunday and Ataşehir Belediyespor striker Desire Oparanozie registered their names on the score-sheet while Clementine Mukamana scored a beautiful free-kick goal for She-Amavubi.
In his post match comments, Edwin Okon said :“We deserved the win, we controlled the match most of the time and we had even prepared for the tie very well.
“Rwanda is a good team but still young. Given sometime together, they will make a solid side in the future.”
The return leg will take place on the weekend of June 6 - 8 in Nigeria, with the overall winner of the contest joining seven other nations in the final tournament in October.
