Efe Ambrose Will Put Aside Relationship With Celtic Pals
Published: May 28, 2014
Nigeria right back Efe Ambrose will put aside his relationship with his Glasgow Celtic teammates when the Super Eagle confront Scotland in a few hours time.
Going into the fixture at Craven Cottage, the Scots are unbeaten in their last five internationals, racking up four wins while drawing against the United States.
And Ambrose believes the friendly against the in- form British opponents will adequately prepare the Super Eagles for the World Cup.
“For me, playing against Scott Brown, Leigh Griffiths, Charlie Mulgrew and the rest of the guys will be funny. but this is football and you have to do this sometimes – having your club team-mates in the opposite team.
“It’s a friendly game but friendlies are different now – everybody wants to win. Before you used these games to set-up your team and prepare a side, but there is big change in mentality now.
“Friendlies count in the FIFA rankings and the more you win the more your country goes up the rankings, so it gets more competitive,” Ambrose told the official website of Celtic, celticfc.net.
Efe Ambrose, who has spent the last two years at the SPL champions, has made 34 international appearances for the Super Eagles.
