Mikel, Enyeama To Miss Scotland Clash As Keshi Names Starting Eleven
Published: May 28, 2014
Manager Stephen Keshi will not start the exhibition match against Scotland with his strongest possible starting eleven.
From the look of things, apart from Austin Ejide, Joseph Yobo and Elderson Echiejile, the Super Eagles coach wants the remaining eight players to prove if they are good enough to be on the plane to Brazil.
To buttress this point, the likes of John Obi Mikel, Emmanuel Emenike, Eddy Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo and Vincent Enyeama will not be parade at Craven Cottage as they have all been rested alongside Ahmed Musa and Victor Obinna.
Hapoel Beer Sheva goalie Austin Ejide has doused suggestions of not being fit for the mundial after he was named in the first team sheet.
To provide cover in defense for the experienced custodian are Joseph Yobo, Echiejile, Egwuekwe and Kunle Odulanmi.
Gabriel Reuben, Joel Obi, Michael Babatunde and Ejike Uzoenyi have been named in midfield.
Nigeria’s attacking threat will come from Shola Ameobi of Newcastle United and Michael Uchebo.
