Onyekachi Apam Tells Keshi : Yobo Should Start At The World Cup
Published: May 29, 2014
While Joseph Yobo has made 96 international appearances for Nigeria and has played in two previous editions of the mundial, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Kunle Odunlami, Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo - also named on the provisional roster - have 80 caps between them.
“Keshi and Daniel Amokachi know better, they played this game to the highest level so it is necessary we have one very experienced man at the back.
“If the coach thinks Yobo is fit, why not? He should start at the World Cup. The coach is the boss and he makes decisions,” Apam told SL10.ng.
The former Rennes defender went on : “All the games are very important but the first three points matter a lot.
“They shouldn’t look down on Iran at all or think they are better than them. It’s an open tournament, anything can happen
“Personally they should take the games step by step. With God’s grace, they will surprise people, there is always a surprise team at the World Cup.”
Onyekachi Apam is now a free agent after his departure from Rennes in the January transfer window.
