Exclusive : Darlington Omodiagbe Retires From Football; Handed Coaching Role At Wacker Burghausen

Former Nigeria Under 23 international, Darlington Omodiagbe, says he has retired from football and will not be renewing his contract with Wacker Burghausen when it runs out on June 30, 2014.
This will bring an end to an illustrious career spanning close to two decades that saw him represent ten different clubs in Europe, mostly German teams, as well as Sharks and Heartland in his homeland.
But the central defender is not abandoning the game that brought him fame and fortune, as he has been handed a coaching role at his club for the past four years, Wacker Burghausen.
“I am quitting football for sure. It is enough now. I will be coaching the junior side of Wacker Burghausen as from next season.
“I have my A license now and I will make my Football Teacher License next year, ”says Darlington Omodiagbe to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The highlight of the 35 - year - old’s career was winning the Polish championship with LKS Lodz back in the 1997- 1998 season.
The veteran managed 6 appearances (2 starts) for Wacker Burghausen in the 3 - Liga this past season.
